Dear Friends,
There’s always that moment between courses when you need a palate cleanser, right? For me, it’s not just food—it’s also my approach to sewing. With spring patterns already at the printers, it's time to think ahead to fall designs. However, before diving into the next big project, I often take a break to create something purely for fun. Sewing something just for the sheer joy of it reminds me why I fell in love with this craft in the first place.
Recently, I stumbled upon a heavy-duty rayon/viscose fabric and decided to experiment with the Saint Germain Wrap Dress. I’ve always leaned towards pencil skirts, so I paired it with the City Stroll Wrap Skirt for an interesting twist. The City Stroll’s practical pockets were an unexpected bonus! Surprisingly, the size 6 pattern worked seamlessly with minimal adjustments.
The front edges of the City Stroll were straightened to create a more structured look, and I extended the hem by about six inches to fall below the knee. The width of the City Stroll’s skirt fit beautifully with the Saint Germain’s wrap design, requiring no major tweaks. To keep things simple, I opted for hooks and eyes instead of buttons for closure. And, for some inexplicable reason, I decided to add a belt. The one from the Terrace Dress was perfect!
This creation is both effortless and comfortable. Whether worn with or without the belt, it drapes elegantly, and the fabric is surprisingly wrinkle-resistant. I can’t wait to wear it out! This little project has recharged my creativity, and I’m now eager to dive into designing the fall collection.
Stay tuned—spring patterns will be available in less than a month. I’m thrilled to share them with you soon.
In the meantime, here’s to finding joy in the process, whether it’s through a palate cleanser or a creative outlet. Until next time!
Warm regards,
[Your Name]
