How to deal with freight forwarding

An indispensable training in the growth of a salesperson is: communication! Communication can be said to be a good deal in many cases. Why is it always unpleasant for the owner to deal with the freight forwarder? What problems do you need to pay attention to when communicating with freight forwarders? Do you have any skills in dealing with freight forwarders? If you want to make your cooperation smoother, let's discuss it together.

Knowing the market, it is better to bargain, save a little freight costs. However, be careful not to be too harsh. Walking along the rivers and lakes, mutual benefit and mutual assistance, and profit sharing, and everyone's relationship can last for a long time. The freight forwarding is based on this meal. If we are too embarrassed and cause no profit in the freight forwarding, they naturally have no incentive to help. Especially when the cabin is tight, there will be delays in the cargo and it will be delayed. At this point, most of the freight forwarders will give priority to those goods that have profitable profits. The freight is too "抠" and is naturally thrown away. Therefore, for long-term cooperation, the key moments rely on the factors of the freight forwarding to help, do not have to care too much about the hundreds of dollars, so that the freight forwarders have money to earn, only to have the enthusiasm of diligent service.

Also pay attention when bargaining, international shipping prices are always floating. According to changes in the cargo season and fuel prices, there will be small fluctuations, and sometimes even up to 100 dollars per 20-foot cabinet. The fluctuation of this price is not controlled by the freight forwarder but the shipowner has the final say. The freight forwarder can usually only confirm the price of this month. In fact, we often need to ask for the price in advance, in order to calculate the external quotation according to the shipping price. Considering the transaction negotiation cycle, it is very likely that it will be shipped one or two months later. Therefore, when inquiring about the price of the freight forwarder, you may wish to tell them your approximate shipping time, please inform the freight forwarder about the possible freight movement trend, in order to check the external quotation when leaving some room. Of course, some freight forwarders are eager to solicit business. When they ask them, they will always say, "Please book your booking as soon as possible, and you will raise the price next month." You don't have to pay attention to them. Ask a few more, understand the actual trends, and choose those freight forwarders who can tell the truth and provide reasonable advice to cooperate.

Looking for a good freight forwarder, after talking about the price, we must actively cooperate with the freight forwarding work. Arrange the transportation to be safe and detailed. As long as the conditions permit, the work will be a little ahead of time, giving the freighter enough time to operate. Generally speaking, the process is like this:

1. Booking a package to the freight forwarder;

2. Freight forwarding fax goods into the warehouse notice;

3. For the whole container cargo, the freight forwarding arranges the container trailer; if the cargo is consolidated, it shall be delivered to the designated warehouse on time according to the instructions of the freight forwarding warehousing notice;

4. The customs declaration materials (ie the invoices, packing list, customs declaration form, verification form and other required documents required for customs declaration) shall be promptly delivered to the freight forwarder, and the goods shall be entrusted to declare. If it is self-declared, it will be completed within the time limit prescribed by the freight forwarding;

5. At the same time as the declaration of shipment, check the contents of the bill of lading with the freight forwarder, tell the freight forwarder the various requirements of the customer on the bill of lading, and ask the freight forwarder to make the order according to the requirements. The freight forwarder issues a bill of lading in a format that we later confirm;

6. After the ship is opened, the freight forwarder informs the required fee and issues a freight invoice. Let's pay the bill and get the bill of lading;

7. For the rest of the month, part of the customs declaration form and the verification form that was handed over to the customs at the time of customs declaration will be returned. If it is the entrusted freight forwarding declaration, the freight forwarder should promptly forward these documents to us in order to handle the verification.

The timing is very particular. Generally, the inverse calculation method is adopted, and the later period is determined first, and then the calculation time is reversed according to the operation step.

For example, let's assume that we are shipping with our customers on October 20 and shipping to the Sydney port in Australia. Note that not every day ships to Sydney. The voyage is usually on a weekly basis. For example, there are ships on Tuesdays and Fridays. On the 20th, it was Thursday, and the earlier voyage was the ship on Tuesday 18th. In this way, the 18th is the later delivery date in our actual operation (if possible, it is better to arrange a voyage ahead of schedule, for example, the boat on Friday 14th. So even if there are any delays that will not catch the boat, we will still You can take the voyage on the 18th and complete the delivery within the time limit. Otherwise, you can only solve it by reverse bill of lading.)

On the 18th, according to the regulations, it is necessary to close the shipment half a day to one day in advance, that is, the “cut-off” in the jargon, and the customs declaration and loading must be completed one or two days in advance. The jargon is called “cut-off”. Therefore, under normal circumstances, we should ship the goods to the terminal and complete the customs declaration on the 16th. In this case, on the 16th, on Sunday, it is safe to complete the customs declaration on the 14th. Considering the time required for booking and arranging trailer loading, it is advisable to advance one week in advance. Therefore, on the 11th, the booking was made to the freight forwarder, and the customs declaration was completed around the 14th. On the 18th, the boarding on time was a safer method in this case. It can be seen that if the contract stipulates the delivery on the 20th, we will prepare it on the 11th in the actual operation.

Of course, in the case of an emergency, we can help through the freight forwarding, we can complete the customs declaration shipment in a short time. Still according to the above example, it is not impossible to complete the customs declaration on the 17th of the ship on the 17th, but after all, it is too mysterious and unconventional.

Understand the process, basically understand the convention of time schedule, that is, generally book 1 week in advance, complete the goods into the warehouse and customs declaration two days in advance. After being familiar with the freight forwarding, the time can be arranged to be more compact, and the booking can be completed in three or five days in advance.

What needs extra attention is the impact of holidays and weekends. Because customs clearance requires exporters, freight forwarders, terminals, customs and other operations, holidays and weekends are particularly likely to cause disjointed cooperation and contact. In particular, the Spring Festival, the "May 1st" and the "Eleventh" holiday are the time when shipping and shipping are more likely to cause problems, and once the problem occurs, it cannot be resolved in time. Therefore, when contracting with customers, it is better to avoid shipping within the long vacation. If you really need to ship within the holidays, first of all, the "official organization" connection work will be resolved before the holidays, and at the same time maintain close contact with the freight forwarding factory, ask for the emergency contact information such as the mobile phone number of the person in charge, and pre-smooth the operation link, estimate Possible accidents and prepare necessary emergency plans.

What to prepare when you first start doing foreign trade, how to find customers online, how to calculate the price of products, how to quote, etc., these things are not difficult. Only when the customer does have the intention to purchase, the foreign trade really enters the substantive stage. The previous work, as long as you know how to do it, and then, it needs a little theoretical basis, you have to know "why do this", it will not be dizzy by various procedures, and second, we can also know where Need to follow the rules, those places can play tricks - not flexible, how to fight through the foreign trade sector like a wolf-like competitor? Don't worry, the "theoretical basis" here is not the formidable formula in textbooks. But then again, if you have learned international trade, it is good for understanding these things. People's universities are not white mixed for four years.

What is foreign trade? Passerby A: "I know! --- Foreign trade is to do business with foreigners!". No, the brethren have cultivated to the current level, and the answer is different: the so-called foreign trade is to buy and sell a pile of paper.

Compare the difference between foreign trade and we go to the downstairs market to buy a watermelon: when buying watermelon, now look at the pick, the octagonal block two bargains, talk about the election, give the money to leave. Foreign trade will not work. First of all, the two sides generally can't see the face, and they can't see the goods (you can see a sample, but after all, it is not a big deal for real trading). The amount is large, and no matter who you put in, you have to spend a lot of storage fees. The road is far away, the freight is expensive----According to the cheaper shipping container transportation method of the foreign trade industry, a container is transported from Guangzhou to Hamburg, and the freight cost is tens of thousands. In addition, national trade is dominated by middlemen wholesalers, and Hong Kong businessmen are sourcing from the mainland, perhaps to the United States. Such a pile of goods moved around the world, and the cost of the rice will be changed to gold. How to do? Simply, the goods are not moved as much as possible, using a set of documents as the representative and symbol of the goods, the traders will resell the set of documents, who will get the pile of paper later, even if the goods are worth, it is convenient to save money.

In this way, the goods in the foreign trade, basically move at three points: the port of departure, ocean freighter, destination port. And the documents that represent the goods, the tossing and turning hands does not get in the way.
