Mud and fire in the North-South dialogue

Mud and fire in the North-South dialogue
On May 24th, at the 1st Contemporary Ceramic Art Appreciation and Investment Forum in Shanxi Province, ceramic artists from Jiangxi and Shanxi nationalities initiated academic exchanges on the development trend and appreciation methods of contemporary art ceramics. The research on ceramic art in the north and south was “collided” here.
Jingdezhen’s porcelain making process has been more than 1,400 years old. At the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Shaojing, the master of arts and crafts in Jiangxi Province and deputy director of the Jiangxi Ceramic Research Institute, introduced the Jingdezhen ceramic art style. "Jingdezhen porcelain has four characteristics: white jade, bright as a mirror, thin as paper, and sound as loud. The reason why it is called 'white as jade' is because Jingdezhen porcelain contains iron oxide in the composition, through the reduction of burning, glaze The face is blue and looks like jade. When the light hits Jingdezhen porcelain, the color is unusually bright and the shadow of the person shines on it, so its second feature is 'mirror like mirror'. If Jingdezhen porcelain of paper is not as thin as 1 mm, it is like a flap and light weight. In recent years, Jingdezhen has established a 'porcelain band'. All of its musical instruments are porcelain, according to its thinness and thickness, the sound It is also different and able to play the entire track, which is a good statement of its fourth feature 'sound like the sound'."
After listening to the introduction of Jingdezhen porcelain, Li Yong, a deputy dean of the Shanxi Museum and an expert in ancient ceramics, also explained the ceramics in Shanxi. Shanxi is one of the birthplaces of the Chinese civilization and has rich cultural resources. However, it is little known that Shanxi’s ceramics have a long history. The earliest kiln sites in Shanxi were discovered in the Tang Dynasty and reached their peaks in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There were numerous kiln sites in the past, including Datong Kiln, Huairen Kiln and Jiexiu Kiln. The kiln fire was strong in Jiaocheng Kiln, Huozhou Kiln and Changzhi Kiln. Shanxi's contemporary ceramic works are on the level of craftsmanship no less than ancient ceramics. Shanxi has the conditions for producing ceramics. First, there are pottery clays suitable for firing ceramics. Although it is not as delicate as clay in Jingdezhen, it also has its own characteristics of stoneware; followed by the use of coal for fuels with low cost. The northern part of Shanxi Province is mainly made of black porcelain, the middle part is Jiexiu kiln, and more white porcelain is produced. The main representative of southeastern Shanxi Province is Bayi Kiln. Its main feature is that red and green colors are painted on white glazes, and secondary painting is used. Process.
The characteristics of the south and north ceramics are different, but the aesthetic values are similar. Chen Min, deputy director of Jiangxi Provincial Art Museum, and Wang Hanbing, artistic director of Shanxi Dedao Design Co., Ltd., interpreted the appreciation method of ceramics. Chen Min believes that the ceramic style of each era is different. When appreciating it, it is necessary to grasp its time, the subject matter it reflects, and the various techniques used at the time. Wang Hanbing has his own unique insights on the appreciation of ceramics. he thinks. To appreciate a porcelain, we must first look at its proportions. The smart lines of ceramics reflect the profound connotation of Chinese culture; the second is to look at colors; the last depends on the texture of ceramics. The Chinese people's aesthetics are highly symbolic.
Through the communication and exchange of experts from the ceramic art circles of both North and South, it will play a positive role in promoting the development of local ceramics in Shanxi.
